I am extremely privileged to travel extensively, but this can be both a great joy and frustration! A joy because I get to see and visit places I only ever dreamed of in the past. And then I have visited some of these places more than once e.g. Argentina, Kenya, Thailand, Iran, and Malaysia. I have visited a number of the most beautiful, interesting and exotic "capitals" of the world such as Paris, London, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Geneva, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Prague, Lima, Bucharest, Nairobi, Tehran, San José, Brasilia, Dakar, Harare, Manila, Rabat, Cairo, and Tripoli. Sometimes the travel becomes a little much and it is difficult to work out which time zone, country and/or hemisphere I am in - let alone which meeting I am supposed to attend or paper should be presented :-))

There is also a sense of great frustration because despite going to all these wonderful places, I am left with the feeling I spend most of my time in aeroplanes, airports and hotels!!! I could write a book about them - dashing from the airport to the hotels and back as soon as the meeting is finished. I seldom manage to get more than half a day free in these countries, but when I do it is wonderful to get out, see the country and get to meet some of the people. Having said that my hosts usually try to make us most welcome and I have met many wonderful people in many countries in the process. It is certainly worth it and I enjoy it despite some of the negatives.
